I love being a teacher!

I can't believe I have completed my first semester of teaching. I couldn't imagine a more rewarding career. These kids mean the world to me, they keep me on my feet and keep the smile on my face. The time I laugh the most is watching them at play. They memic things that I do. For instance, they play teacher. One of the girls will sit in my rocking chair and teach her students calendar. She does the same things that I do. She sits like I do and then she quotes what I say to them. I then realize that they are watching everything I do, they even watch how I move my hands or how I pull my hair back. It really makes you see what an important role you play in their lives. I also have one of the smartest classes. I am very proud of them, it is only half way through the semester and 85% of them are reading on a level where they should be by the end of the year. My class also won the math bowl for first grade. As you can tell, they make me very proud. I do my best to tell them each and every day how important and special they are to me. I always want them to know that they are cared for and valued. The students that know that you believe in them are the students that reach for the stars because they have the confidence they need to succeed. I am looking forward to next semester but first I am going to enjoy my two weeks off for the holidays by just relaxing and having fun.

Arctic Blast!

No school and I'm loving it!! I watched the news all night last night and just waited for it to be posted and sure nuff it did! Little Elm NO SCHOOL THURSDAY and then I got the call from the calling tree at school. When my teacher friend called me late last night, I didn't even give her a chance to say no school, I just started singing. Today, Shaheen and I decided to get out in the Artic weather and we had a blast. Our car went sliding everywhere but we were in a parking lot and so we were safe. Then we decided to walk to the dollar store for candy and we skated there. It's so icy and slippery. I think I lost grip 4 times, but I loved every minute of it. The only thing that I don't like is that it's to darn cold out there. BURR!! Shaheen and I have a big screen TV and we moved the bed to the living room and have been watching movies all day along with our candy from the dollar store. I feel like a little kid today. LOL Back to the movie......see ya.

Being Married

I was recently married to my best friend in July. His name is Shaheen and he means the world to me. We met at our home church back in junior high and 10 years later we finally get married at the church where it all started. We have been married for 4 months now and it has been amazing. I have learned so many things about being married in such a short time. We have had friends tell us before getting married to hang in there for the first year because its the roughest. If our first year is the roughest, well, we have it made. We get along really good because we know how important communication is. We talk and talk and talk just like best friends would do. We keep each other company and the best part about it is, its free! There has been countless days where I lay at one end of the couch and he lays at the other end and we talk for hours at a time. The key to making a relationship work is communication and not holding grudges. You have to realize the other is not perfect and neither are you. You have to forgive and not hold grudges...because where do grudges get you??? Nowhere. Right now we live in Denton but we will be moving back home this summer if all goes well. Probablly in the Arlington area. We are excited!
