I'm PREGNANT!!!

Wow, I really need to update my blog so I'll start off with the biggest news...I'M PREGNANT!!
I am 7 weeks as of right now. It has been crazy and so exciting at the same time. I'm just now getting over being nauseated (sp?) Which is kinda weird because my doctor told me that I should expect to be nauseated until 10-12 weeks. I hope everything is ok!!!

I found out on week 3 I believe. I am very regular, and I noticed I was a bit late although I was still cramping so I didn't think too much of it. It was a Friday evening. I was on my way to the Alvarado football game and I stopped by at Walgreens to buy a test. Well since I'm not patient AT ALL, I took the test at Walgreens because I knew I was on my way to a football game and I for sure wasn't going to go to the bathroom there. IT WAS POSITIVE! I could barely keep my excitement in. I called Shaheen on the phone and told him. I wish I told him a better way but I was way too excited!!!

Ok, so I wish I would have blogged from week one but week 7 is pretty good. I started feeling sick to my stomach at week 4,5 and 6 but at week 7 it has faded away (or atleast I think). I haven't had any weird cravings, maybe it's too early for that. I have noticed that I don't have a sweet tooth at all which is so weird. Anything sweet just sounds so gross to me but not to Shaheen. He is always asking me if I want to go get icecream. haha I went to the doctor on Monday, November 2nd. We heard the heartbeat and it was fast and loud. He said everything looks healthy. Shaheen is hoping for a boy and I am hoping for a girl but we will be so blessed either way. I'm not showing just yet but hopefully that comes soon. I can't wait to have a cute round belly. I have been very nervous about something bad happening but I have been memorizing scripture and trying not to worry. Shaheen reminds me all the time that this is God's baby and not our baby.

That's the update for now!!!

Just an update in general

I haven't posted in 2 years so I figured I'm due for an update. Lots have changed for me in 2 years...the first and most recent change is we have a house!!! We bought a house in August from our friends Coby and Brian. We now live in Kennedale and we love it. Shaheen loves it because his commute is 1 whole minute. He works at the highschool across the street. My commute is much longer...it's 30 minutes to my elementary in Alvarado. I used to LOVE buying clothes and shoes but now I LOVE buying things for our house. Shaheen surprised me today with a kitchen table. I was out shopping all day and I came home and just chilled. He asked me to get him a drink of water because he knew I would walk past the dining room. So I did walk past the dining room and noticed nothing...on my way back I screamed in excitement. He said, "What Shannon wants...Shannon gets." I guess I have trained him well...lol

Another new thing is Shaheen and I work in our youth department at church. He teaches 10-12th grade boys and I teach 9th and 10th grade girls. WE LOVE IT!!! Some of the students are our closest friends. Working with the youth makes our relationship with God grow stronger every day. The kids love the Lord and it's evident in their lives. We are very blessed to work with them. It's not a job to us...it's a joy.

Geez...I need to work out. I got all the way up to 10 miles last month and just stopped one day. I haven't started back up and it shows. I was training for the half marathon but my knees kept giving me a really hard time. No excuses...I'll get back on track soon...after the holidays.

I have two weeks off.....YAY!!!!!!

Getting fit!

Getting back into shape is no fun. I'm going to try my best and give up sweets and get atleast 4 runs a week in. I'm kinda starting it all today. I ran 2 miles today and I'm working my way up. It's time to get back into shape because it's swimsuit season!!

How does he do it?

Well Shaheen has started up at school for the semester. He is taking 21 hours so he can graduate in May. YAY! (very proud of him!!) Meanwhile, he's working 24ish hours at Verizon. It's only been a week since his school started and I feel like I never get to see him. I get home at 4 and he has already left to go to DBU at 3:30. I wake up at 5 and head to school at 6 and he gets home at 8:30. We keep missing each other, but on the weekends I will get to see him in the evenings. It's rough but it's worth it because soon enough he will be finished. I don't know how he does it but I support him and I'm going to help him survive it anyway I can. Meanwhile, I get so bored here at the apartment. I'm one of those persons that hate being alone. I need that extra body with me to entertain me. Isn't that awful? I do not mind being alone for an hour or so but after that I don't know what to do with myself so I normally work-out, take a walk, watch tv or work on stuff for my class. For instance right now I'm writing the parents letters about how their child is doing in my class. All positive ones so that way when they misbehave they are not only hearing negative things from their teachers. I'm so random. That's the quick update!!

I love being a teacher!

I can't believe I have completed my first semester of teaching. I couldn't imagine a more rewarding career. These kids mean the world to me, they keep me on my feet and keep the smile on my face. The time I laugh the most is watching them at play. They memic things that I do. For instance, they play teacher. One of the girls will sit in my rocking chair and teach her students calendar. She does the same things that I do. She sits like I do and then she quotes what I say to them. I then realize that they are watching everything I do, they even watch how I move my hands or how I pull my hair back. It really makes you see what an important role you play in their lives. I also have one of the smartest classes. I am very proud of them, it is only half way through the semester and 85% of them are reading on a level where they should be by the end of the year. My class also won the math bowl for first grade. As you can tell, they make me very proud. I do my best to tell them each and every day how important and special they are to me. I always want them to know that they are cared for and valued. The students that know that you believe in them are the students that reach for the stars because they have the confidence they need to succeed. I am looking forward to next semester but first I am going to enjoy my two weeks off for the holidays by just relaxing and having fun.

Arctic Blast!

No school and I'm loving it!! I watched the news all night last night and just waited for it to be posted and sure nuff it did! Little Elm NO SCHOOL THURSDAY and then I got the call from the calling tree at school. When my teacher friend called me late last night, I didn't even give her a chance to say no school, I just started singing. Today, Shaheen and I decided to get out in the Artic weather and we had a blast. Our car went sliding everywhere but we were in a parking lot and so we were safe. Then we decided to walk to the dollar store for candy and we skated there. It's so icy and slippery. I think I lost grip 4 times, but I loved every minute of it. The only thing that I don't like is that it's to darn cold out there. BURR!! Shaheen and I have a big screen TV and we moved the bed to the living room and have been watching movies all day along with our candy from the dollar store. I feel like a little kid today. LOL Back to the movie......see ya.

Being Married

I was recently married to my best friend in July. His name is Shaheen and he means the world to me. We met at our home church back in junior high and 10 years later we finally get married at the church where it all started. We have been married for 4 months now and it has been amazing. I have learned so many things about being married in such a short time. We have had friends tell us before getting married to hang in there for the first year because its the roughest. If our first year is the roughest, well, we have it made. We get along really good because we know how important communication is. We talk and talk and talk just like best friends would do. We keep each other company and the best part about it is, its free! There has been countless days where I lay at one end of the couch and he lays at the other end and we talk for hours at a time. The key to making a relationship work is communication and not holding grudges. You have to realize the other is not perfect and neither are you. You have to forgive and not hold grudges...because where do grudges get you??? Nowhere. Right now we live in Denton but we will be moving back home this summer if all goes well. Probablly in the Arlington area. We are excited!
